Description

The United Provinces of Circenses originated from Latin for panem et circenses meaning in English, bread and circus. Circenses is Latin for circus.

History of Circenses

Before Paulo Aires

In the once well known landmass of South America there was many vast nations well known in the world. But until the Great Disaster hit South America, it's great countries had fallen into chaos and disorder. The sea level rose, and Amazons was flooded into what it is now known as the Amazon Sea, a very brackish sea combined with flesh water and salt water. Sea level had also rose and sank many major cities and made many millions of people displaced across South America. Andes Mountains began to melt it snow and flooded the coast of southeastern South America. Once that happened famines broken out often, making many people die from hunger, disease spread from people to people and it was malaria. Malaria was now able to adapt in South American new hot climates, and killed off about 5% of it's population. Then later when famines and malaria was a common thing to see daily, then brothers turned against their brothers and sisters turned against their sisters. Families were broken apart, and many people were killing each other over food, water and resources. Until Paulo Aires came along...

Paulo Aires- The Founder of Circenses

Paulo Aires was a young man the age of 25, when he grown tiresome of everyday life in South America, but he decided that he and his people across the land could not live like this anymore. He then made campaigns of himself and his friends who would later become the senate of Circenses. He traveled across the vast land and he and his friends promoted friendship with many city-states and everyone in South America agreed to end this violence and to stick together into a single country. Later on Paulo Aires had brought hope and success within everyone's mind. He then was elected president of the new founded country called Circenses. He was held in office until he died at the age of 76 from lung cancer. When he died in office, people of Circenses mourned their lost of they're leader. And then Paulo's vice president, Carlos Recife was sworn into office as new president of Circenses. But the people of Circenses did not realize what would become of Carlos Recife...

Carlos Recife's Regime

When Recife was the new president of the country, he made 18 provinces, and he said each provinces has a "job" to do daily to help Circenses in it's daily struggle. Rio was made the official capital of Circenses, where the government seat was.

Province 1- Banking industry, helped Circenses currency spread nationwide
Province 2- Car industry
Province 3- Timber
Province 4- Electronics
Province 5- Medical and Drugs
Province 6- Pearling
Province 7- Agriculture
Province 8- Mining
Province 9- Weaponry
Province 10- Communication(Radio and TV broadcasting)
Province 11- Fishing
Province 12- Textile
Province 13- Mass media(entertainment and movies)
Province 14- Nuclear energy and nuclear weapons
Province 15- Wine industry
Province 16- Oil
Province 17- Luxuries in gem and fur
Province 18- Solar energy

When Recife made the new provinces he made citizens of Circenses into labor to help their nation become strong day by day, however their was massive child labor forces in factories, people getting injured and not work compensated, unfairly payment in jobs, and then people were not allowed to have a voice in the government. Later then people complained to the government about what it's doing to them and were simply ignored. Resulting in higher taxes to the people of Circenses to the working class only. Those unable to pay because they weren't paid much money at their jobs when they should, were simply homeless.
This resulted in series of worker's strikes, and peaceful protests in the capital city of Rio. But Recife made the military fire upon the peaceful protesters and that was when the Foggy Days has begun.

The Foggy Days

The Foggy Days was a period in Circenses history where mass violent protests, riots, high crime and revolution broken out across the nation. It was cloudy and foggy from all the smoke and ash made from cities turning into rumble. And people were fighting against the military forces with anything they could use a weapon. Leading provinces in the Foggy Days were Province 14, 17, and 18. Province 14 was planning on bombing the capital city of Rio and planning to overthrow the government of Circenses. Province 17, even though it was very rich province in luxuries, they never needed to pay taxes since the majority were rich class, but Province 17 people thought it was unfair for the working class to have to pay taxes and thought everyone should pay taxes, they also were unhappy with the mistreatment of the government officials there too. Province 17 majority were aiding the minority population of poor and homeless people by giving them money, food, water, and a place to stay for the night. Then Province 18, refused to work in the solar power factories until they were paid equally like everyone else, they were also secretly given firearms from Province 9 too.
Mass murder of the civilian population was rising, children were being slaughtered in the streets, women were being mistreated and the men where messed around often. Carlos Recife ordered that this outrage across Circenses to end at once, but the people were still not happy about their leader mistreating them. That being said Carlos Recife had secretly heard that Province 14 was going to bomb the capital city of Rio. He ordered massive airstrikes against Province 14 and when that happened, the province was blown sky high.

Reaction to Destruction of Province 14

First province in Circenses to recognize the destruction of Province 14, was the Province 10. Province 10 had good relations with Province 14 in trading and diplomacy. The people were greatly upset by the death of Province 14, but they could no longer keep fighting, because they had already lost against Recife.

The Fall of Province 17

Recife also heard from his daily messengers about Province 17, and how the rich there were aiding the homeless. Recife said that the people of Province 17 must be genocide by bombings. He ordered a nuclear weapon of mass destruction at Province 17 and it hit the province and went off like 10,000 light bulbs going off at once. Then after the nuclear strike occurred, Province 17 were in a state of despair, the rich class had now became homeless, though the government of Circenses did not realized that the people of Province 17 had underground cities and were hidden until later on in Pedro's efforts to overthrow Circenses in later history.

End of Province 18

Recife had no longer needed to have solar power for electricity in Circenses he ordered another and final air strike against the province in the middle of the night. And after that night the people of Province 18, were unheard of again. Some say they fled to underground shelter with the people in Province 17, others say they all died in the bomb blast. The answers still to this very day remain unconfirmed.

The Aftermath of the Foggy Days

When the people of Circenses had lost their goals of what would of been a revolution, they had to suffer great punishment to Recife's government. However Recife thought the only way for himself to "forgive" the people of Circenses was they had to allow their children to be involved in what is called the 7 Days of Blood.

7 Days of Blood

The 7 Days of Blood was a annual nationwide game held every year in the start of the first week of July, the people of Circenses had to have their children be selected in drafting system like a lottery. One boy and one girl from 8-18, each province were randomly selected out of a box, with a bunch of paper slips inside. Those whoever were chosen had to go to the capital city of Rio, and there they had to be placed into a randomly generated arena matching with terrain from various biomes. And all boys and females who were chosen in this event had to fight to the death, in a period of seven days. Only way was to win if one person from one province is the last standing. Or another way to win is if both the boy and girl from their province survived they both win. The 7 Days of Blood is very similar to Panem's Hunger Games. It is considered that 7 Days of Blood and Hunger Games may of originated from another preexisting game like that. Last 7 Days of Blood was in the year 2278.

Pedro's Revolution

Pedro Salvador, 16 year old boy from Province 8 was picked into the 7 Days of Blood, and won however he was left in great stock and despair over the people he killed in the game. He decided that he will lead a bloody revolution to overthrow Recife once and for all. That being said Pedro lead all the provinces in the whole nation to rebel against the military and police and Rio was in great disorder by Pedro's battle tactics. Pedro also discovered that the people of Province 14 and 17 heard of his revolution and they aided him and other provinces to overthrow Recife.
Pedro's revolution lasted until he was 21 years old, by then he successfully lead the assassination of Carlos Recife, and brought faith in the people of Rio. His home province of Province 8 was bombed by airplanes, but he managed to overthrow and kill Carlos Recife, and then revolution was a success. Pedro was elected new president of Ciscenses at age of 21. He ended the 7 Days of Blood, ended child labor, made labor unions, worker's compensations, gender equality, and ended unfair treatment of the people of Ciscenses. A dawn of a new era occurred nationwide for Pedro.

Contact with Panem

Pedro and his people during his second term in office, had great news of a another country contacting Ciscenses. The country was known as Panem, and Pedro later met with the president of Panem and became trustworthy and brotherly allies to this very day. Many people from Ciscenses went to Panem and many people from Panem went to Ciscenses and taught them their history of their nation. And when people of Ciscenses and Panem later learned they had a very similar history with each other. They realized that we had bad times in the past, and now together Panem and Ciscenses will forever be together as brothers in help to recontact other countries still out there in the world, and in efforts to help rebuild the world.

"Panem and Ciscenses may be different by language, nationality, religion, culture, but we have a similar history with each other. We may be two different nations but we are still friendly and great allies to each other, because we need to rebuild our world because it is ours." ~President Pedro Salvador, speech with President Scadoxus of Panem
